Welcome Happy Campers!

     Our campground is private, secluded, and peaceful. We invite your family to come visit us. We're located in Marion, NC. Clearwater Campground is family owned. We have natural stone firepit on most sites which are great for cooking or roasting marshmallows. Pickin' and Grinnin' is fine too. 

    We're nestled in the valley surrounded by Pisgah. If your looking for a peaceful place to get away from it all then Clearwater Campground is the place. The cool mountain water flowing over the rock is pure tranquility. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just a short drive away. Several beautiful places to pull over and take a family photo. Highway 226A is a scenic route. 
    
    Several other area attractions located nearby. We are just minutes away from hiking, mountain biking, shopping, and dining. 

    If your looking to get away for 2 or more night then camp with us for less than $36.00 a night. Seasonal sites are available from May 1 - Nov 1. Permanent sites available too. Please call to schedule a time to visit. The main entrance gate is locked.

    Clearwater is a peaceful place to get away from it all. The mountain air is so refreshing. There is nothing like the sounds of the cool mountain water flowing by. Sit back and relax in front of the waterfall. We designed the rock fire pits 
with natural rock to blend in with nature.

We're located off Hwy 226A
then turn left onto Armstrong Creek Road (Wildlife Fish Hatchery Sign).
It's approximately one mile on the left from this point . The gravel road is state maintained. Please drive slowly behind the old home place and down the hill as you enter into the campground
. (Please don't let the road scare you away from having the time of your life.)

Wildlife:
All kinds of wildlife roams through these mountains. We've seen several deer, turkeys, and bears. You can also see all kinds of beautiful rhododendrons, mountain laurels, and ferns.   

Parking: 
     
Visitors are welcome! Please have all guest to sign in at the office while visiting. Guest parking is located across from site 5.


Local Dump Station: 
Pass by TJ's on 221 you'll see Coats North America sign on the left, Turn left onto American Thread Rd., dump station located on the right. 

Pet Friendly:
We love our pets too; however, we recommend that all dogs have a valid rabies tag on dog's collar. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Dogs
aren't allowed to be chained up outside. Sorry, we don't allow Rottweilers, Pit Bulls, and Chows due to insurance policy. Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing a pet.

Fly Fishing:
Our Campground has over 1200' of stream so there's plenty of places to fish. 
There's a nice semi-level path located alongside of the creek throughout the campground. 

Clearwater is surrounded by Pisgah National Forest so you
can also enjoy fishing along the banks of Pisgah too. 

Armstrong Creek Fish Hatchery
:
When leaving the campground turn left at the mailboxes continue to follow gravel road. Then cross over a small bridge then park on the left side of the road while visiting. There's also a hiking trail at the end of Armstrong Creek Road.    

Boating Access:
Lake James is the place to visit if you enjoy fishing, boating, and water sports. Lake James is covering  6,510 acres, with over 150 miles of shoreline. It also has breath taking views of the mountains. Boat access ramp is located approximately 35 minutes away from Clearwater Campground. Black Bear Access ramp is adjacent to Bear Creek Marina. 

Walking Trail:
Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway is now officially open. It's located off U.S. 70 west pass by Lowe's then turn right onto Sam Phillips Drive. The walking trail is paved and adjacent to creek. Several benches located along the path. 

Towns Nearby:
We're located near the following towns Little Switzerland,
Spruce Pine, Old Fort, Burnsville, Bakersville, Asheville, Blowing Rock 1:hr. and 15 minutes and Boone


Stores Nearby:
It's take 25 minutes to Wal-Mart Supercenter on Sugar Hill Road in Marion, NC. Marion also has several other grocery stores such as Food Lion and Ingles. Also, a Wal-Mart in Spruce Pine. TJ's Discount store  located in Marion, NC. 

Shopping:
Innsbruck Mall is located in Asheville, NC and it is only 50 minutes away from the campground. Factory Outlet Stores in Boone.  

Restaurants:
Plenty of fast food restaurants to eat at such as McDonald's, KFC, Subway, Taco Bell, Hardees, and the Waffle House. Other great places to eat at in Marion are Fatz Cafe, Hook n Anchor, Countryside Bar-B-Que, Pizza Hut, and many others.
